As the holidays are here, everyone at the nursery would like to wish everybody a safe and happy holiday season.
I am currently munching on a cucumber which was grown here. We are also growing carrots, green beans, radishes, tomatoes, loofah gourds, calabaza winter squash, and several herbs to name a few.
Also, of interest this time of year is the Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow shrub (Brunfelsia grandiflora) with its varying shades of purple flowers, and the Snowflake Euphorbia (Euphorbia leucocephala). Like its close relative, the Poinsettia, its flowering is triggered by short day lengths. Thus, if it is exposed to an artificial light source in the evenings such as a security light or porch light, the flowering could be delayed well past Christmas. Pictures of both of these plants can be found in the plant gallery in the category ‘plants and shrubs’.
