After a very cold winter and what seemed like a long cool spring, summer has finally arrived.  It will be interesting to see what effect the cold temperatures had on the Lychee, Jackfruit, and Longan crops.  Already we are seeing a delay in fruit development, and some have speculated that the fruit will ultimately drop without maturing.  We will keep you updated on the fruit as time progresses.  On a positive note, many trees and shrubs which looked dead after the winter freeze are all leafing out now.  It looks like the only plants to die were the Chenille Plants and the red and green Jade Vines.  Although, a couple of the green Jade Vines in the ground did survive the winter so we will be able to take cuttings once they start growing again.

The warmer weather has also brought a return to many butterflies fluttering about.  The cold winter may have reduced their populations, but they are still in abundance around the nursery.  Unfortunately, a couple of insignificant moth species have defoliated the Florida Fiddlewoods and yellow Jasmine around the nursery.
